Firm Overview and Unique Features
Establishment of Shanghai Office
In
order to further develop its more than 10 year personal relationship
with China as well as to respond to the requests for legal support
from Japan-originated companies who wanted to develop manufacturing
and sales base positions in all regions in China in connection with
China’s transition to an open
economic system, Oh-Ebashi, as the first Japanese law firm to do so, opened
an office in Shanghai, China’s financial and manufacturing center,
in 1995.Since the Shanghai office has Japanese attorneys familiar with Chinese
laws that are subject to frequent revisions, and provides its services on
a client-oriented basis including association with major local Chinese law
firms according to clients’ needs, Oh-Ebashi is confident that
its Shanghai office is capable of handling both new types of legal
matters and complex legal matters in a satisfactory manner.
In addition to
providing legal services from its Shanghai office, both the
Tokyo and Osaka offices are capable of providing legal support and
services from Japan through cooperation with Oh-Ebashi’s Shanghai
office to entities from the Kansai or Kanto (or other areas)
regions in the fields of manufacturing, finance, distribution
and services and other fields, which either have already expanded
into China or plan to do so.
Establishment of Tokyo Office
In order to
respond promptly to the legal needs of not only Kansai-based industries,
but also to those Japanese and foreign companies based in Tokyo and
the Kanto area, Oh-Ebashi opened its Tokyo office in 2002 at the
same time that law firms were permitted to organize as legal professional
corporations.Since
then, having strengthened its resource, the Tokyo office also has attorneys
who are specialized in corporate and foreign business matters and is
fully equipped to provide full and effective legal representation
including complicated legal issues, matters comprising new structures
etc., both domestically and internationally.
