Africa

Our firm provides full legal support to Japanese companies in order for them to invest in African countries and conduct their business activities therein. We not only support companies in establishing wholly owned subsidiaries in such countries, but we also advise them in matters related to various agreements such as investment-related agreements, agency agreements and plant construction agreements, the establishment and operation of joint ventures, M&A such as acquiring or investing in local companies, and various legal issues (especially, labor and compliance issues) after their investments. We also represent them in dispute resolution matters.

Our firm has the ability to respond to the legal needs of our clients in various African countries including the Republic of South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt and Côte d'Ivoire through collaborations with established law firms within international lawyers' networks such as the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) as well as law firms based in countries with strong links to Africa such as France, U.K. and Portugal.
