Launch of New Office in Nagoya

2015.05.27

We are pleased to announce that we will be opening a Nagoya office later this year. The office will enable us to provide exceptional legal services in the Chubu/Tokai region.

Nagoya is a major city located in the Chubu/Tokai region. As the construction of the magnetically levitated train line between Tokyo and Nagoya is under way, the economy of the Chubu/Tokai region is expected to grow more rapidly over the coming years. The demand for legal services is likely to increase as well. By opening the Shanghai Office in 1995 and the Tokyo Office in 2002, we have established a solid network of offices to deliver timely and outstanding legal services on both domestic and cross-border matters. With the launch of our new Nagoya office, we are committed to providing high-quality services to clients conducting business in the Chubu/Tokai region as well.

Two attorneys will be stationed in the Nagoya Office: Motonobu Wakabayashi, Partner, and Shinji Hosono, Partner. Mr. Wakabayashi has been involved in business transactions including cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As), licensing, etc., as well as domestic and foreign dispute resolutions. He has extensive experience in a broad range of litigations and arbitrations in areas such as international taxation, construction, and product liability. Mr. Hosono has been involved in business transactions including domestic and foreign M&As, as well as various dispute resolutions concerning the Companies Act, consumer related laws, and the Unfair Competition Prevention Act. In addition, attorneys from the Tokyo, Osaka, and Shanghai Offices will be regularly dispatched to the Nagoya Office. They will be prepared to respond promptly to any kind of domestic and foreign cases including those related to antitrust law, intellectual property law, and labor law.

The Nagoya Office will be located at the 16th Floor of Nagoya Crosscourt Tower (4-10 Meieki 4-chome, Nakamura-ku, Nagoya-shi, Aichi). The office is scheduled to open in September 2015. Further details will be announced.
