Construction / Infrastructure

We have extensive experience providing legal services relating to construction and infrastructure inside and outside Japan, and also provide legal support both for the export of Japanese infrastructure technology and the inbound investment into Japan from overseas. After the amendment of the Act on Promotion of Private Finance Initiative in 2010, a large part of the infrastructure business in Japan has been entrusted to private companies and, especially in the field of energy, various projects are currently in the planning and implementation stage. Our firm provides legal advice to interested parties in various positions, such as project owners, including public business operators, construction work contractors, lenders, etc.
Our past cases include projects at Kansai International Airport, Universal Studios Japan (USJ), a water processing plant in Malaysia, railway construction in Hanoi, development of research facilities of a national university, development of port facilities, construction of waste treatment facilities, construction of a museum, export of Shinkansen technology, the loop railway line in Osaka, and nuclear/thermal/hydroelectric/photovoltaic/onshore wind/offshore wind power plants (both in and outside Japan).
Our firm also has a wealth of experience in domestic and overseas dispute resolution in this field, including litigation and arbitration.
